What the check looks at

Five everyday areas where research links habits to inflammation markers. Your lowest area becomes your focus.

  • Sleep: Across 72 studies of more than 50,000 people, disturbed sleep was linked to higher CRP and IL-6. Start with one fixed wake-up time.
  • Movement: A 2026 review of 61 reviews linked regular exercise with lower inflammation markers. In older adults, strength training 3 or more times a week did the most.
  • Plants and fiber: Fiber's effect on CRP is small and still uncertain, but more fiber was linked to lower TNF-alpha. Add one fiber food a day and build slowly.
  • Worry less: 30 randomized trials found seed oils did not raise key inflammation markers, and cold plunges showed no clear effect on CRP. Put that energy into sleep and movement.
  • Know your numbers: Over 30 years in 27,939 women, higher hs-CRP predicted first heart attacks and strokes. It swings from test to test, so it is one clue, not a verdict.

The check is about habits, not health conditions, and it is not a diagnosis. Grades and studies are in each linked article. How we grade evidence.
